Publication Ethics Policy
Responsibilities of Authors
All authors submitting manuscripts to JCCM must adhere to the following ethical standards:
- Originality and Plagiarism: Manuscripts must be original, properly cited, and free from plagiarism, including self-plagiarism.
- Data Accuracy and Integrity: Authors must ensure that their research data is accurate, complete, and transparent. Any fabrication, falsification, or selective reporting of results is strictly prohibited.
- Authorship and Contributions: Only individuals who have made substantial contributions to the research should be listed as authors. Guest, honorary, or ghost authorship is not acceptable.
- Ethical Research Practices: Studies involving human subjects, animals, or clinical trials must comply with ethical guidelines, including obtaining approval from relevant ethics committees.
- Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that could influence their research.
- Corrections and Retractions: If an author discovers a significant error in their work, they must inform the journal promptly so that corrections or retractions can be issued as necessary.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers play a crucial role in maintaining the quality and credibility of published research in JCCM. They are expected to:
- Maintain Confidentiality: Manuscripts under review should be treated as confidential documents.
- Provide Objective and Constructive Feedback: Reviews should be based on scientific merit and presented in a fair and unbiased manner.
- Identify Ethical Issues: Reviewers should report suspected plagiarism, data manipulation, or ethical concerns.
- Declare Conflicts of Interest: If a reviewer has a personal or professional conflict of interest with the authors or research, they must decline the review.
- Respect Deadlines: Timely peer review ensures efficient publication processing.
Responsibilities of Editors
The editorial board of JCCM is dedicated to upholding ethical publication practices. Editors are responsible for:
- Ensuring Fair and Transparent Peer Review: Editorial decisions are based purely on scientific merit and research relevance.
- Maintaining Confidentiality: Editors must not disclose manuscript details to unauthorized individuals.
- Addressing Research Misconduct: Any allegations of misconduct, such as plagiarism or falsified data, will be investigated thoroughly.
- Issuing Retractions and Corrections: If ethical violations or major errors are discovered post-publication, necessary corrective actions will be taken.
Addressing Research Misconduct
JCCM has a zero-tolerance policy for research misconduct, including:
- Plagiarism: Direct copying, self-plagiarism, or paraphrasing without attribution is strictly prohibited.
- Data Fabrication and Falsification: Manipulating or misrepresenting data is unacceptable.
- Unethical Research Practices: Any study that violates ethical guidelines for human or animal research will not be accepted.
- Duplicate Submissions: Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously is not allowed.
If research misconduct is identified:
- An internal investigation will be conducted.
- If misconduct is confirmed, the manuscript will be rejected or retracted.
- In severe cases, the authors’ institution or funding bodies may be notified.
